2009 Bursaries
Usk Farmers Club held it Annual Dinner on 13th November at The Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran. Nearly 200 people enjoyed a superb evening which rounded off an excellent year for Usk Show. With over 65 Agricultural Trophies presented on the evening there was a dazzling array of silverware on display. The Chairman, Mr Gerry Hawkins, thanked all those who work tirelessly for the Show throughout the year for their sterling efforts in 2009 especially after the disappointment of the 2008 Show cancellation. Mr Hawkins also praised the many stalwart supporters and visitors who have always supported the Show through lean and prosperous times and what a pleasure it was to see so many on Show day . Without doubt Usk Show is one of the best one day Shows in the country in surely the most perfect of locations.
Following on from this the Officers are very pleased to have been able to award Bursaries totalling £ 2, 405 to students attending Usk College on Land based Courses. This is the second year of the awards and the Farmers’ Club is delighted to be able to support the students.
Although it is winter, work is well in progress for next year’s Show. Our re-vamped website ; www.uskshow.co.uk, is up and running with new ideas being added over the next few months. Please take a look and pass on any suggestions you may have to make it even better.
