TREE PLANTING ON THE SHOWGROUND
The Directors of Usk Showground Ltd are delighted that, with considerable help from the students and lecturers from Usk College, an avenue of 16 Oak Trees has been planted on Usk Show ground.
It was always the wish of our late Patron Lord Raglan, 5th Baron Fitzroy Somerset, that the trees be planted as a legacy to the future generations as well as greatly enhancing the Show ground.
Kelvin Vater from Usk College together with other lecturers and up to thirty students spent a few days digging, planting and building cages around the trees. Their work is greatly appreciated and hopefully the trees will thrive in their new location.
Although it is still Spring, work for the 2011 Usk Show is well in hand; as usual a great day out is promised enhancing all that is wonderful in Monmouthshire and especially within agriculture. The website, www.uskshow.co.uk, will keep you up to date with all that is going on. If you would like to help please contact the Secretary through the website – volunteers are very welcome and always needed.
