OUR SUPPORT OF THE BOBATH CHILDRENS CENTRE

Ann Bowyer, Chairman of Usk Farmers’ Club was delighted to be able to present a cheque for £1018.87  to Nia Richards, Community Fundraising Coordinator at Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales.  The centre in Whitchurch, Cardiff provides specialist physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy to children who have cerebral palsy.  Usk Farmers’ Club have a nominated charity each year.  Mrs Bowyer said how grateful the Club is for the generosity of  members and supporters who have donated to this year’s charity.  She said “A child is born with cerebral palsy every 6 hours in the UK and the condition is the most common disability in children in the world.  Cerebral palsy is a permanent disorder of posture and movement resulting from brain damage caused by any of a number of different things occurring before, during or in the first 2 years after birth.  Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre currently helps around 350 families in Wales and needs to raise over £850,000 annually to do this, so we are pleased to be able to help in this small way”.
