Usk Show 2020 - Behind the Scenes!

Without an actual show this year, we thought you might be interested in what goes on behind the scenes throughout the year!

Our Main Ring Chief Steward (& Current Chairman), Keith Mayo, has explained a bit more about how complicated it can be to get everyone into the main ring when they should be and in the right order!

At Usk Show there is always so much to see and do!

Throughout the morning you can browse the stalls and trade stands, check out the livestock as they are prepared for exhibiting and watch the judging. From 9:00am, the Main Ring is used for judging the Retraining of Racehorse Amateur Ridden Series Qualifer and the beautiful costumes of the Side Saddle classes and Show Jumping starts from 9:00am.

Demonstrations start in the Countryside Ring from 10:30am. Our regular contributors from BLACK MOUNTAIN FALCONRY will again perform their afternoon display on Horseback. ROWAN WORKING HORSES, USK VALLEY WORKING GUNDOGS, AMAZING ALPACAS & WOOLASTON BASSETTS will also be returning. The MASSEY & FERGUSON OWENERS CLUB and local Vintage tractor owners will also be displaying their magnificant machines.

Our Main Ring Attraction for 2023 is JAMIE SQUIBB & HIS FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS DISPLAY TEAM. Also in the Main Ring, we will have a display by our local heros from SOUTH WALES FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE (as long as they dont get a call out!), the GRAND PARADE OF LIVESTOCK & HORSES and a display from our STEAM SECTION.

JUNKFISH will return to entertain the children. Their dedicated marquee gives little ones the chance to enjoy making a wonderful range of ‘make and take’ activities, all for FREE! They will also have outdoor activities on offer, including their famous JUNK BALL RUN.

The day wil close with the exhilirating INTER HUNT RELAY to get your pulses racing. It’s a wonderful end to a wonderful day!
